2012 Hall of Fame Banquet Testimonials
Fred Cesano
Former soccer player Fred Cesano thought the first Hall of Fame ceremony was absolutely
terrific. “The college did a fantastic job. There were so many people to catch up
with and not enough time to get to everyone.” He said he was particularly touched
by the induction of Sam Nicolopolus by his son and former tennis coach Rich Anderson’s
stories. Cesano was also happy the college inducted former soccer great Jim Zylker,
who was Cesano’s roommate in college and has remained a good friend for 45 years.
“I know everyone around me had a great time at the event. It brought my five semesters
at Cañada back to me and rekindled my enthusiasm for the school. Please give me an
address I can send a donation on behalf of myself and my former teammates and now
business partners, Filippo and Sal Galioto, who I met on the field at Cañada, See,
besides athletics, your school gave us an opportunity to meet and become best friends
and business partners for the past 40 years. Cañada does a lot more than help you
get an AA degree.”
Stephen Adams
Stephen Adams was unable to attend the first induction ceremony but did say how much
Rich Anderson impacted his time at Cañada College. “I look back with such fondness
of my time at Cañada and particularly with you. You are a great tennis coach, but
from my perspective it doesn’t compare to the impact you had on young people at a
critical time in their lives. My life was forever altered by meeting you, learning
from you, and gaining a great deal of respect and love for you. You took a hopeless
little kid from the San Carlos Tennis Shop via Lynchburg, Virginia, with a little
talent and helped me become a man with similar virtues of his instructor. My debt
of gratitude is great, but then again so is my menfor and good friend, Rich Anderson.”
