Student Support Needed to Attend Cannes Film Festival
Thu, 25 April, 2019 at 4:55 pmFor the third consecutive time, students from Cañada College's Digital Art and Animation program have been invited to show their films at the Cannes Film Festival in France. This year, Veronica Plante and Katie Burke will be screening their films at one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world, as well as have the opportunity to participate in workshops and forums to further their filmmaking skills.
Cañada is the only community college nationwide that has students invited to screen at Cannes through Campus Movie Fest. These students are competing against established film programs at four-year colleges and routinely winning. It's a testament to their skill and drive.
The students and their families pay their own travel expenses to Cannes. The SMCCCD Foundation has set up a donation link for contributions to help defray the student's expenses.
